**2020 Tudor Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir: Production Notes**

**Vineyard Origins:** Nestled in the heart of California's picturesque Santa Maria Valley, our vineyards benefit from the region's unique maritime influence, ensuring the grapes mature to perfection.

**Harvest:** The 2020 season blessed us with optimal conditions. Our Pinot Noir grapes were handpicked at the peak of ripeness, ensuring a rich depth of flavor and aromatic intensity.

**Winemaking Process:** Under the watchful eye of our winemaker, Dan Tudor, the grapes underwent a gentle fermentation process. Embracing time-honored techniques, we fermented in small batches, ensuring each lot received individual attention.

**Aging:** To enhance the wine's natural complexity and structure, it was aged in the finest three-year dried French oak barrels. This imparts subtle hints of vanilla and spice, complementing the wine's fruity profile.

**Tasting Profile:** A luminous ruby hue invites you to a bouquet of ripe strawberries and cherries, with whispers of sagebrush spice. On the palate, expect a harmonious blend of red fruits, earthy undertones, and a touch of minerality. Soft tannins and a crisp finish make this wine a delightful experience from the first sip to the last.

**Pairing Suggestions:** This Pinot Noir is versatile and pairs beautifully with dishes ranging from roasted duck and grilled salmon to earthy mushroom risottos. Its elegance also makes it a delightful solo sipper.

**Conclusion:** The 2020 Tudor Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir is a celebration of meticulous craftsmanship, terroir, and tradition. We invite you to uncork a bottle, pour a glass, and savor the essence of Santa Maria Valley.

Old Adobe Vineyards

Along both sides of the acclaimed Foxen Wine Trail, these vineyards consistently produce prize-winning Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. The soils vary from clay and gravel river deposits to hillside and hilltop sites reminiscent of the great vineyards of Burgundy. The remains of the historic Foxen adobe still stand guard over these vineyards.
Dan Tudor, the dedicated winemaker at Tudor Wines, is deeply rooted in a family tradition that intertwines with the art of viticulture. Hailing from a lineage that cherished grape cultivation on the sun-kissed island of Hvar in Croatia, Dan's connection to the vine is both heartfelt and historic.

Upon Dan's grandfather's relocation to California, their grape-growing endeavors flourished. Yet, it was Dan's genuine curiosity and humble beginnings in winemaking that carved a niche for Tudor Wines in the industry.

Starting in 1982, Dan's foray into winemaking was marked by a learner's enthusiasm. His early wines, appreciated at local county fairs, were a nod to his earnest efforts and dedication to the craft.

By the late '90s, with a keen eye and an open heart, Dan began exploring the diverse terroirs of Monterey County. Drawn to the nuanced character of Pinot Noir, he emphasized careful grape selection from the California Central Coast. His hands-on approach, combined with a reverence for age-old Burgundian methods, ensures that the wines capture the genuine essence of the grape and its terroir.

In the world of winemaking, Dan Tudor is a testament to the beauty of continuous learning, blending time-honored traditions with a touch of modernity. His wines, especially the Pinot Noirs, are a reflection of a journey marked by passion, patience, and persistence.
